                   In the world of abundance, poverty and hunger are unacceptable

The Pakistan Dietetic & Nutrition Association (PDNA) was registered in Islamabad as a trust on the 6th of November 2000. It is a non-governmental, non-political organization committed to improving the health of the nation by its various projects. There are 11 members in the Board of Directors of the trust from all provinces of Pakistan and represent individuals from universities & hospitals.
Food bank is one of the projects being undertaken by us.

The food bank
It is petty that food bank is non profitable and charity forum while hunger and poverty is prevailing on a very large scale. Despite the unprecedented scientific developments human race is suffering from the same unprecedented level of hunger and poverty. According to the American Dietetic Association position statement on " hunger and poverty ", one billion - world population has sunk in the deep sea of hunger and poverty. Ironically in Pakistan, 35% of Pakistani population is living below poverty level and underfed as compared to 20% of world population. This is why Pakistan Dietetic & Nutrition Association (PDNA) has taken up such an uphill task with the approval of its Internationally reputed nutrition experts. Details plan is as follows:

Justification for Project
* Uneven distribution of food resources across Pakistan.
* Increasing malnutrition all over Pakistan that triggers the prevalence of infections, morbidity and mortality.
* Extra burden on medical cost of the community.
* Famine & draught in different regions of the country.
* Deteriorating health status of mothers and children.

Objectives
1- To eradicate hunger from Pakistan.
2- To fight out malnutrition in the region.
3- To improve the nutrition status of the nation especially the undernourished mother and children.
4- To generate nutrition awareness amongst masses.

Food bank Recipients
Unemployed.
Disabled.
Undernourished children & mothers.
People working at low wages and who can't afford to feed themselves and their families.

Resources needed
Food donations.
Financial support in the form of zakat, endowments or donations.
Food supplements.
